No computer operating on the Internet is ever completely secure, but we take all reasonable precautions to safeguard any information you provide to us.
We hate spam as much as you do, and we won't knowingly do anything to cause you to get more of it. We will only obtain personally identifying information about you if you choose to provide such information to us.
We collect and store only the following information about you: the name of the domain from which you access the Internet (e.g. aol.com if you are connecting from an America Online account, or cornell.edu if you are connecting from Cornell University's domain); the date and time you access our site; and the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site.
We may use the information we collect to measure the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, or to help us make our site more useful to visitors.
You may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing questions, comments, or new information about our website or about our trails. We use personally identifying information from you in order to follow up on your comments, or for example to register you for the event for which you were signing up.
The list of subscribers is visible only to the group moderator. We promise not to give or sell your email address to anyone else, and we won't use your email address for any non-trail-related purpose.
If you post a message to the group, your email address will naturally be visible to other members of the group, but it should not be available to non-subscribers.
Yahoo! Groups has a strict anti-spam policy also.
We use personal information provided on entry forms to efficiently register participants in our events, and we may also use the information to send reminders for subsequent year's events. Registered participant's names and addresses may be shared with selected event sponsors for event-related promotions. Event participant data is kept separately from the general MTC membership database information.
We maintain members' personal information including email addresses and postal addresses in our database, and keep access to that database limited to MTC officials who have a need to know. We will not sell or give our mail list to any other organization, except for trail-related one-time mailings.
We may use your personal information to send you periodic newsletters and membership renewal mailings. Any other uses for our mail list must be pre-approved by the MTC Board of Directors. We promise not to use your email address for any non-trail related purposes, and to provide you with a way to opt out of any email uses we may decide to pursue in the future.
