See You at the Ride!

The 24th annual Gateway Engineers Tour the Montour, hosted by AHN Montour Sports Complex, takes off on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The ride is a non-competitive, family-fun bike ride — and the signature annual fundraiser for Montour Trail Council.

Rain or shine, the event begins at mile marker zero in Coraopolis. Parking is at AHN Montour Sports Complex, which is adjacent to the start/finish line.

You can register online or via mail. Participants whose US Postal Service-mailed entry forms are postmarked by August 29 are guaranteed a T-shirt in their selected size (if requested during registration). Since supplies are finite, late entrants may not receive their selected size after the cut-off date. In addition, participants may order additional T-shirts (adult sizes only, $15).

Tour Details

Gateway Engineers Tour the Montour takes place rain or shine.

For safety reasons,  helmets are mandatory; no headphones/ear buds permitted.

Emergency-only mechanical assistance is provided at start/finish; participants and bicycles should be in good condition prior to the ride.

Rest stops are positioned along the course every 5 to 10 miles, providing fruit, snacks, electrolyte replacement and water.

Half-century and 44-mile riders should maintain a 10-mph and 8-mph pace, respectively, to finish the course while rest stops and lunch are open.

SAG (support & gear) assistance is available along the course, and the Montour Trail Safety Patrol will be deployed during the event.

A delicious post-ride lunch is provided, including a vegetarian lunch, if you prefer.

Check out the great basket-raffle prizes at the finish!

Directions

Tour parking is at AHN Montour Sports Complex, 2419 State Avenue, Coraopolis, PA 15108.

Volunteer

Not a bicyclist? You still can help. To stage the Tour the Montour, we need many volunteers to fill a variety of positions. Contact Bill Orr if you are interested in volunteering for the Tour.

Send a quick email to volunteer@montourtrail.org with your name, email address, phone number, and general areas of volunteer interest. Someone will get back to you as quickly as possible!

Ride Routes

All routes travel out and back on Montour Trail, beginning at MM 0.
  • Half-century: 50 miles*
  • Long-distance: 44 miles
  • Middle-distance: 15 to 24 miles
  • Family Ride: 12 miles or less

Note: Trail conditions may alter course lengths.
* Due to National Tunnel closure, turnaround is at mile 25.

Each ride follows the off-road Montour Trail, whose surface is hard-packed crushed limestone. However, the trail does cross some major roads. Please stop at all stop signs unless there is a crossing guard flagging you through the intersection.

Registration

All participants must fill out an entry form and sign the waiver (which can be copied) before participating in the event.

Entry fees are $55 for each adult (age 12 and up) and $15 for each child (up to age 11). Montour Trail Council members receive a discount.

Each entrant can select a T-shirt in their size (adult sizes only).

Early registration discount ends August 29, 2026. After that date, fees are $65 for adults and $20 for each child.

Online registration ends September 7, 2026. You can also register in person the day of the event.

We also will accept registrations at the Tour’s packet pick-up.
