Maintenance crew volunteers are currently conducting major resurfacing operations in South Park, Peters and Bethel Park communities, between Churchill Road and the Library viaduct, MM 33-34. Trail users should exercise caution in this area, since heavy equipment, including excavators, dump trucks, steamrollers and tractors, will be in use. The maintenance crew expects to work in these areas until at least early October.
With the closure of Ewing Mills Road from late September thru October, use Hassam Road to reach the Airport-area Montour Trail trailhead near the sewage treatment plant -- named Hassam Road trailhead -- at around MM 1.4.
Money raised on Penny Day goes toward maintaining Montour Trail along the South Hills section.
