    The public is formally invited to the Montour Trail Coraopolis connector Grand Opening on Saturday, September 19, at 10:00 AM at the Montour Trail Mile 0.0 trailhead (parking off Montour-Coketown Road, Moon Township). There will be a short ceremony and a ribbon cutting. The .8-mile Coraopolis connector will give Montour Trail users a direct connection to downtown Coraopolis and its many amenities.     With the closure of Ewing Mills Road from late September thru October, use Hassam Road to reach the Airport-area Montour Trail trailhead near the sewage treatment plant -- named Hassam Road trailhead -- at around MM 1.4.

    Support the Peters Township Friends Group Peters Township's Montour Trail volunteers will be accepting donations of any kind, from pennies to dollars to checks, on Saturday, October 3, from 9 am to 1 pm, at the following locations: Top of the bridge near Peters Township Sanitary Authority Arrowhead Trail at Parea Gyro Brush Run Trailhead Donations will be used to fund maintenance supplies: cutting grass, pruning trees and controlling the never-ending growth of weeds.     Join us to honor the late, former Montour Trail Maintenance Crew Chief Frank Ludwin. Montour Trail Council volunteers will name the garage at Kurnick trailhead in his honor, to mark the the significant contributions he made to the trail. Mr. Ludwin played a pivotal role in establishing the maintenance crew, and subsequently led this group for more than a decade. He was always committed to ensuring a safe and beautiful trail.
