  • GAP closure

    A one-month closure of the Great Allegheny Passage trail starting next month in West Mifflin is a prelude to an $8 million project to fix multiple landslides. A 2-mile section of the trail, near milepost 137, will close completely from the evening of July 9 to Aug. 6 for a scaling project to remove loose rocks from the hill above the trail.

    Montour Trail Council meets the third Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m. to discuss its latest business agenda. Friends group, committee, and subgroup volunteers report on project status as well as identify barriers to completion. The council's most pressing business is to consider motions presented for approval.
