Maintenance crew volunteers are currently conducting major resurfacing operations in South Park, Peters and Bethel Park communities, between Churchill Road and the Library viaduct, MM 33-34. Trail users should exercise caution in this area, since heavy equipment, including excavators, dump trucks, steamrollers and tractors, will be in use. The maintenance crew expects to work in these areas until at least early October.
The public is formally invited to the Montour Trail Coraopolis connector Grand Opening on Saturday, September 19, at 10:00 AM at the Montour Trail Mile 0.0 trailhead (parking off Montour-Coketown Road, Moon Township). There will be a short ceremony and a ribbon cutting. The .8-mile Coraopolis connector will give Montour Trail users a direct connection to downtown Coraopolis and its many amenities. Join us to honor the late, former Montour Trail Maintenance Crew Chief Frank Ludwin. Montour Trail Council volunteers will name the garage at Kurnick trailhead in his honor, to mark the the significant contributions he made to the trail.
