  • National Tunnel Closure

    During a recent inspection of the National Tunnel, Montour Trail engineers found areas of deterioration of the concrete ceiling, enough to affect the tunnel's stability. Therefore, Montour Trail Council has decided that, in the interest of safety, the National Tunnel will temporarily close on Tuesday morning 11 November, for initial stabilization work to its deteriorating ceiling near the western entrance.  The Tunnel, located in Cecil township at MM 25, was constructed by the Montour Railroad in the early twentieth century.   • Trail Alert: McConnell parking lot closed through April

    The McConnell parking lot (MM 24.9) is closed now and possibly through April. The maintenance crew is using it as a holding site for materials that will improve another nearby section of trail. You can find alternate parking at Kurnick and Ridgewood. https://montourtrail.org/trailheads-2/

  • 5th ANNUAL BICYCLE BLESSING

    On Saturday, April 18 at 10:00 AM, a blessing of bicycles and their riders will take place at mile zero of the Montour Trail in Moon Twp. (near Coraopolis). Bicyclists of every faith are invited.   • Long-term Construction in Airport Area: Summer-Fall 2025, Spring 2026

    Duquesne Light is replacing transmission lines and towers near Hassam Road (MM 1.4), so there may be temporary closures in that area, especially in late summer-early fall 2025 and again in spring 2026. Be cautious from MM .8 to 1.4; follow all wa+rnings on signage as well as verbal instructions from construction flaggers.
