Honor bricks
In the last few years we have had quite a few requests to donate benches in honor of individuals and pets and companies. But now we are running out of proper spacing in which to put these without the trail being overloaded.
So we have been researching other means by which those may be honored. The Cecil Friends, Peters Friends and the South Hills Friends (South Park Township area) are offering the chance to have a brick etched and placed in one of these areas for a donation.
Bricks such as these can be found at Phipps Conservatory, PNC Park, Mt Lebanon Library, Six Flags. to name a few. The Friends groups will be offering application which include lettering and, if desired, clip art. The offerings will be twice per year unless otherwise specified. Our first offering will start immediately and will close on Feb 1. Bricks will be placed in late spring and early summer. The second offering will close on Sept 1 and the bricks will be placed in the fall as weather permits
There are several brick sizes and donation will vary according to the brick size and whether or not clip art is requested. Sizes include 4×8” 8×8” and possibly 12×12”. The message will be etched with laser and forms a shiny, blackened inscription which, unlike sandblasting, will not deteriorate with time. The clip art is in addition to the original price point of the donation and is also etched by laser. The 4×8” bricks may be inscribed with 3 lines with characters including spaces and punctuation. The 8×8”and have 5 lines with 20 spaces per line – including spaces and punctuation. The basic brick color is English red which has a slight orange tint to it allowing the laser print to be very visible.
Each 4×8” donation for the brick is $150.00 donation, the 8×8” brick donation is $250.00. The clip art is an additional $25.00. The bricks will be set in mortar or concrete to ensure their permanence.
A mini remembrance brick keepsake –a copy of the ordered brick is an additional $25.00.
These bricks are a wonderful expression of honor for the important person, pet or event in your life. We call them honor bricks because the bricks memorialize those living and gone from our lives.
