All Trail users (and their bicycles) are invited to the annual Montour Trail Council Bicycle Blessing on Saturday, April 26 at Mile 0 of the Montour Trail. The event begins at 10 a.m. Parking is conveniently nearby, just off Route 51 near Coraopolis. After the blessing, cyclists can proceed to the Trail for a ride. The rain date is May 3.
The Montour Trail volunteer maintenance crew will be working this week between MM 14.5 & MM 17 in the McDonald area. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, May 5-9, there will be large equipment on the trail as the crew clears ditches and cuts back brush. All trail users should use caution when passing equipment, even if it means dismounting your bike.
The J.R. Taylor 5K is a family friendly event, run or walked on the Montour Trail. It begins 800 feet north of the trail’s J.R. Taylor Memorial Bridge over Clifton Road in Bethel Park, near Washington Elementary School and Al's Cafe. The event features chipped timing, t-shirts, medals, snacks, door prizes and more! The 23rd annual Tour the Montour takes off on Saturday, September 13, 2025. The ride is a non-competitive, family-fun bike ride that begins at mile marker zero in Coraopolis. Parking is at AHN Montour Junction Sports Complex, which is adjacent to the start/finish line. The event features a variety of distances to ride, each following the off-road Montour Trail. The surface is hard-packed crushed limestone.
