Sponsor Recognition
Tour the Montour participants recognize our sponsors as supporters of one of the best trail-building organizations in the commonwealth and the larger northeast region. Such support demonstrates to sponsors’ customers and employees that they align with an organization that creates and maintains accessible green space. Research increasingly demonstrates the health benefits of recreational use of outdoor trails.
How Tour Proceeds Are Used
- Tour sponsorship, registration and donation funds are used to purchase gravel and limestone for trail resurfacing (MTC resurfaced more than seven miles in 2024 at a cost of more than $16,000/mile), replacing fencing and signage, and for fuel and maintenance for MTC’s heavy and light machinery.
- The MTC also maintains 26 chemical toilets on the trail at a cost of $38,000 annually.
About Tour the Montour
Now in its 23rd year, the 2025 Tour the Montour is the MTC’s largest and signature fundraising event, promoted as family-friendly. It takes place on Saturday, September 20, along the Montour Trail starting at MM 0 in Coraopolis. The Tour provides a fully supported opportunity to ride the Trail at a length of a participant’s choosing. There are rest stops providing refreshments and snacks along the way. Lunch is served after the ride. Participants receive a souvenir t-shirt.
